– Emotion, Psychology, Robots

Emotion Spy is a robot consists of three parts: the companion, the server, and the satellite. The companion and the satellite connect to the server through wireless. The satellite has the shape of silverfish, a common domestic insect. The satellite consists of chemical sensors, a motion camera, a thermal imaging camera, a microphone, and antennas. It records the smell, humidity, movements, temperature changes, and the voice of the target person. The stress level of these data will be analyzed by the server and stored in the database in a time-based fashion. The companion looks just like a watch from afar. When wearing it, the wearer will be able to review the emotion tension of the person when he/she revisit the space where the subject had been to while wearing the companion. The companion can also receive realtime information when pointing the detector towards a person. The companion will show the emotion arose level and the direction of attention of the observed person, and suggesting the proper counteract action for the wearer. From this, the wearer can learn to perceive how the person feels when facing specific spaces (such as kitchen), to get more clue about what might irritates the person to avoid further dispute. Emotion Spy can be a tool for maintaining good atmosphere of a shared domestic environment... or a tool to find the best way to irritate each other, if you know their emotions.
